Since the Local Elections in May Badsey has had a new District Councillor, Philippa Capel. She attends Parish Council meetings whenever she is able to do so. She writes:
“I stood as a candidate to represent Badsey and Aldington Ward as a District Councillor from a Conservative perspective to offer choice. My approach to the role and to supporting the local community has been influenced by my profession, a Chartered Psychologist, and many years of working in the local NHS Trust solidifying my view on the importance of community. I was born and brought up in Oxfordshire, I have lived in Worcestershire since 2008 and Wychavon since 2015. During this time I have been actively involved in sporting and charitable organisations. It is a wonderful place to live and benefits enormously from the community initiatives and thriving employment. My drive is to represent and champion the Ward at a District level, as well as guiding the wider District initiatives to continue to be an outstanding District in an ever-changing environment.”

A very large number of our residents (there are 240 on the Wychavon site) commented on the Planning Application for the development of up to 90 houses south of the Bretforton Road with access at the junction of Bretforton Road and Birmingham Road close to the Round of Gras. Most of these comments objected to the proposal, as did the Parish Council. We felt it right to draw residents’ attention to a new document under “Application Documents” dated 01/09/2023. This is a Transport Assessment Addendum which seeks to disagree with Worcestershire Highways recommendation for REFUSAL of the application. 9.7.2023 More Planning News?
A resident recently brought to the attention of one of our Councillors a leaflet received from a developer, “Lone Star Land”, proposing a development of 35 houses off Bretforton Road on open land adjacent to Maybush Gardens. We do not know exactly how many residents received this leaflet. There is a link to view the proposal:

There is as yet no actual Planning Application on the Wychavon site at: https://plan.wychavon.gov.uk/ .
However, Lone Star Land have since contacted the Parish Council directly asking to meet with the Council about this proposal. We do not meet privately with developers. As we always do, the Council has suggested a public meeting at which all residents would be able to express their views.
We will update this information as soon as we know more.

The meeting of the Parish Council Planning Committee which was held in the back room of the Wheatsheaf on Tuesday 30th April was attended by 11 Councillors and a large number of residents who were keen to object to the application for the development of up to 90 houses on land behind 34 Bretforton Road.
The application W/23/00936/OUT on the Wychavon District Council site already had 21 objections from residents before the meeting started. Four residents outlined their own serious reservations about the proposal and the Council voted unanimously to object to the application, discussing the reasons for that objection. Residents were invited to email their own thoughts on the matter to badseypc@yahoo.co.uk by 7th June to assist the Council in this.
The deadline for comments, for or against the proposal, is 16th June and we remind residents that the Parish Council’s view is no more important than the views of individual residents, and we encourage you to let Wychavon District Council know YOUR opinion. 22.3.2023 Potential Planning News
The “drop in” exhibition on Monday 20th March and the public meeting from 19.00 at the Community and Sports Club in Brewers Lane about the proposed development of land off Brewers Lane for housing were both well-attended. Our District Councillor, Mark Goodge, was there in the afternoon along with several Parish Councillors. Residents asked very probing questions during the evening session, as did some of the 8 Parish Councillors present in their capacity as residents and to gauge the public mood.
One of the companies involved in the proposal has a website devoted to it which can be accessed via the button below.
Their leaflet can be seen via the other link below and is also on our Facebook page.
Please note that no Planning Application has yet been made, but is likely to follow. The revision of the South Worcestershire Development Plan is expected to finish in the summer and it seems likely that this piece of land and those to its north will be included as potential development sites.
If and when a Planning Application is made we will inform residents via this website and Facebook so that residents can express their views to Wychavon Planning.
